CURRENT PARTNERSHIP · £25,000 APPEAL

New Connections

People serving IPP can spend years waiting for release or face recall again and again. New Connections Support CIC is focused on those most deeply affected, who need intensive, consistent support to build stability. Exemplar Group is raising £25,000 to back tailored work around trauma, addiction, mental health, housing and the transition from prison into community life.

STATUS:
Fundraising is open now. Direct donations and £5,000 anchor contributions are welcome. The dedicated Crowdfunder campaign has not launched yet.

Exemplar Group Ltd is contracted to fundraise for New Connections Support CIC. Our agreed fee is a £500 retainer plus 10% of the funds we secure for this project. If we secure the full £25,000, the percentage fee would be £2,500 in addition to the retainer. These funds will be reinvested into the continued development of Exemplar Group. 

What the £25,000 Supports

This first phase aims to support around 15–20 care-experienced people serving IPP in, or returning to, the North East. Funding will help pay for specialist support time, individual release plans, prison-gate and appointment support, help with housing, benefits and ID, links to recovery and mental health services, and early action when a crisis threatens stability. Support will be planned around individual need rather than a fixed six-month cutoff.

Project ReMAKE

Founded by Judge Kameel Khan, Project ReMAKE supports people leaving prison to develop business ideas, practical skills and new routes into work. Its programme with universities brings participants together with students and mentors to build and pitch their plans.

Exemplar Group founder Adam J. Robinson met Judge Khan at Queen Mary. We are now liaising with the ReMAKE team about enrolling in a forthcoming cohort and exploring how our shared belief in enterprise, opportunity and lived experience leadership might connect.

JUSTICE PARTNERSHIP

IPP Committee in Action

Exemplar Group works in partnership with IPP Committee in Action on the People’s Inquiry into the IPP Sentence. The inquiry brings together people affected by IPP, bereaved families, victims and survivors of crime, and specialist voices to examine harm and pursue truth, accountability, reparation and non-recurrence. Speaking & Consultancy

Adam J. Robinson brings lived experience, academic study and a commitment to reform into the rooms where decisions are made. He offers talks on IPP, parole, repeated recall, trauma, recovery and life after prison for universities, charities, businesses, police, the civil service, government and civic organisations. Exemplar Justice also works with organisations to turn that insight into better support and outcomes.
